Founded in 1956, the Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS) is Singapore’s oldest not-for-profit professional institute for lifelong learning. MDIS offers well-accredited courses in Business and Management, Engineering, Fashion Design, Information Technology, Health and Life Sciences, Mass Communications, Psychology and Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management. These programmes are offered in collaboration with highly acclaimed universities in France, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
The MDIS Residences@Stirling is the very first hostel in Singapore to be awarded the Green Mark GoldPlus Award. The 15-storey hostel consists of 782 air-conditioned rooms, 14 suites, a lecture theatre and a cafeteria. The eco-friendly hostel can accommodate some 1,700 students and is fully-integrated so that students can live, learn and play in an interactive and conducive environment.
Vels Group of Institutions was established in 1992 under the able leadership of Dr Ishari K.Ganesh, who set up the Vaels Educational Trust, a charitable, non-profitable organisation in 1992 in fond memory of his father Shri Isari Velan. The group today has over 20,000 students in 15 institutions offering secondary and higher education. The services in Higher Education rendered by Vels Group has paved the way for the upgrade to status of "Deemed to be University" in 2008. The University today has 13 different schools, 38 departments offering more than 100 courses in diverse disciplines including Arts & Science, Dentistry, Engineering and Technology, Hotel Management, Law, Para Medicine, Management Studies, Maritime Studies and Medicine (in the state of Telangana). MDIS - VELS has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with MDIS, Singapore's oldest not-for-profit professional institute for lifelong learning to offer quality education at an affordable cost.
